Plover VFW presents $8,000 in donations

The Greater Plover Area Memorial VFW Post 10262 presented donations totaling $8,000 this month.

The funds were raised at the post’s annual Mike Helgert Memorial Golf Outing fundraiser, held at Wisconsin River Golf Club last September.

Accepting the donations were George Hidalgo, vice president of Fisher House of Milwaukee, for $5,000; Bob Quam of Salvation Army Hope Center of Stevens Point, for $1,000; Roseann DeBot, executive director of Operation Bootstrap of Stevens Point, for $1,000; and Director of Development and Marketing Brittany Von Ebers of the Boys and Girls Club of Portage County, also for $1,000.

The event was established in memory of longtime Plover VFW member and Vietnam War Veteran, Mike Helgert, who founded in 2004 what is now the annual Mike Helgert Memorial Golf Outing Fundraiser, which supports veteran needs and charitable causes.
