Peter “Pete” Filtz, 85

Peter “Pete” Filtz, age 85 of Plover, passed away peacefully at The Lodge at Whispering Pines on Saturday, September 29, 2018, with his loving wife Joyce of 63 years at his side.

Peter was born May 6, 1933, in Bevent, Wis., son of the late Peter and Johanna (Cychosz) Filtz. On August 27, 1955, was united in marriage to Joyce Molnar in South Milwaukee.

Pete started building homes in his early 20’s and was a home builder for over 40 years until retirement.

Pete loved to hunt, fish and race snowmobiles. Trapshooting was his favorite sport and he won many trophies including state championships. He was a big Brewers and Packers fan! He especially enjoyed being with his family and his 17 grandchildren and one great-grandson, all knew him as “Papa Pete “or “Popsicle”.

He made the best chicken soup, and the world’s best dumplings and pierogis. The very best was his charcoal grilled prime ribs and mostly all the samples he would give out while cooking. He always made people laugh with his goofy sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife Joyce, and six children: Peter (Brenda) Filtz, Jeff Filtz, Cindy Ferg, Candace (Sonny) Meronk, Judy (Alan) Budleski and Kathy (Chris) Ostrowski; one brother, Bill (Patsy) Filtz; and one sister, Maryann (Bill) Wojcik. He was preceded in death by one son, Frederick “Fritz” Filtz.

Peter’s family would like to extend our sincerest thanks to the staff at the Lodge who laughed with and genuinely cared for our dad each day.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 5, 2018, at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church in Bevent.

The Rev. Augustine Bentil will officiate. Burial will take place in the Parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services Friday morning at the Church. Pisarski Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family. For online condolences please visit www.pisarskifuneralhome.com.
