‘Passport to Paradise’ brings a Harry Potter-style murder mystery via Zoom

The Boys & Girls Club of Portage County and the Stevens Point Area YMCA are partnering for a special murder mystery event for 2021, brought to participants via Zoom.

The 19th annual fundraiser will be the first not held at SentryWorld; a precaution due to COVID-19.

The organizations will host “Death in Diagon Alley,” a virtual Harry Potter-themed, family-friendly murder mystery party via Zoom.

Participants are invited to “step into the night and pursue a flighty, temptress adventure” on Friday, Jan. 29, from 6-8 p.m.

Ticketholders will receive a unique Zoom link, and each ticket includes a special Harry Potter grab ‘n’ go kit available for pick up at the by the “9-¾ Platform.” Details will be provided upon ticket purchase, and the kits will include a Portesi Pizza, Point Root Beer, a slime making kit, wands, Harry Potter Jellybeans, and more goodies.

The PG-rated event gives families a night of mystery and fun from the comforts of home. Mayor Mike Wiza, McDill Principal Jeanne Koepke, and a few other local public figures will make special appearances in the Diagon Alley mystery.

Proceeds from this event benefit the Stevens Point Area YMCA and the Boys & Girls Club of Portage County.
