Thirty-five golfers on seven teams competed for a good cause during the 17-hole, par-3 Mid-State Sand Valley Golf Outing on Aug. 5.

The golfers raised nearly $5,000 for the Mid-State Foundation, which offers scholarships, grants, and emergency funding for students through the school year

Tying for first place in the competition were the Solarus and ERCO teams. Both shot 41 on the par-51 course, requiring one step of Sand Valley’s tie-breaking rules to determine team ERCO the winner. Other winners at the event included Josh Dhein, from Team ERCO hitting a hole-in-one on 15, along with the many sponsors and volunteers who generously gave of their resources and time to support students.

“Due to the uncertain times we are all facing with the COVID pandemic, we were extremely excited to able to continue the tradition of playing such an amazing course to benefit students with scholarships and grants,” said Jill Steckbauer, director of Mid-State’s Foundation & Alumni. “It was a fun and relaxing day for players and volunteers alike, all for a good cause, and the views of the courses were incredible,” she said.
