Florian “Red” Lasecke Jr, 85

Florian “Red” Lasecke Jr, age 85, of Stevens Point, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Crossroads Care Center in Weyawega, Wis.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Red will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover, WI. Rev. Edward Shuttleworth will officiate. Burial will be at the Plover Cemetery. There will be a visitation and open casket for friends and family from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday morning at the Plover/Shuda Funeral Home, 2400 Plover Rd. in Plover.

Red was born May 26, 1935, in Stevens Point, the son of Florian and Elizabeth (Szymanski) Lasecke. He graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1953, and soon after entered into the United States Air Force.

After his honorable discharge in 1957, Red returned home to Stevens Point. He began his career as a merchant marine for the Great Lakes fleet and worked six months out of every year stationed in Superior, Wis., and Duluth, Minn. He then met the love of his life and soul mate, Eunice (Brooks) Slowinski, and got married soon after on September 7, 1986.

Red retired in 1996, the couple enjoyed spending time together golfing, bowling, gardening, fishing, playing cards, and spending time with their family. Red enjoyed ice fishing, writing letters, watching westerns that featured John Wayne, woodworking, telling stories, trying new things, living life to the fullest, and most of all being the most loving and caring husband to his wife, Eunice.

Red is survived by his step-children; Rhonda Brooks, Lea Beth Cozzetto, Kurt (Peggy) Slowinski, Melissa Brooks; step-grandchildren: Shashona Brooks, Milo Brooks, Ashley Cozzetto, Louis Cozzetto, Olivia (Justin) VanNatta, Ava Cozzetto, Martin (Mandy) Slowinski, Frank (Natalie) Slowinski; step-great-grandchildren: Griffin and Callum Slowinski and Nigel and Vera VanNatta; two brothers: Frank (Gail) Lasecke and Don (Lois) Lasecke; his sister Margie Lasecke, and her son David Meldman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Dolores (Jerry) and Lois (Bill), and his wife Eunice in 2016.
