The Portage Co. Diversity Affairs and Inclusiveness Committee will meet on Wednesday for its December meeting with a new member.

Ahmie-Woma Farkas joins the committee to replace Alicia Razvi, who moved out of the area, according to a memo from Meleesa Johnson, committee chair.

“Of course, the feedback system will take many forms, some of which will be to have representatives from the various communities share, in a formal way, their ideas, concerns, requests for policies, etc. directly with the committee,” Johnson’s memo read in part. The memo also references similar reporting systems at UWSP and in Madison.

Wednesday’s meeting will include a discussion on the committee’s proposed “marginalized community feedback system,” to include how such a survey would be constructed and distributed.

The committee will also consider a resolution recognizing the Hmong New Year, and how it can work with Berkshire Hathaway: the company recently reached out to the committee to express interest in participating in the committee’s work in some way.

The committee will also begin a discussion on homeless in Portage Co., though almost no information was included in the Dec. 30 meeting packet.

Anyone with questions or comments for items not on the agenda should send them via email to [email protected] no later than 48 hours prior to the scheduled meeting.

The committee will meet in Conference Rooms 1 and 2 at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Portage Co. Annex, 1462 Strongs Ave. Participants can also attend the meeting via video.
